2023 Pet Friendly Summer Events on Long Island
Warmer weather is finally here, and it’s time to make plans for a summer you’ll never forget. While you’re booking vacations and planning road trips, remember to also plan some fun outings for the days you spend closer to home!
Of course, it can be pretty frustrating to pack your dog into the car and head to a summer event–only to discover that pets aren’t welcome there. Are you looking for fun events around Nassau and Suffolk counties that you and your dog can enjoy together this summer? Start by checking out our list of pet-friendly events right here on Long Island!
LI-DOG Pack Walks
LI-DOG is a nonprofit organization focused on maintaining local outdoor areas for dogs and their owners to enjoy together. At Dan’s Pet Care, we understand how important it is for dogs to spend time exercising outdoors, and we couldn’t be more excited about LI-DOG’s mission.
If you’re looking for a fun, low-key event to share with your dog this summer, check out LI-DOG’s Pack Walk schedule! These are held in various parks throughout the Long Island area, and they give dogs and their owners a chance to embark on guided walks together. These walks are a great way to meet like-minded dog owners, and they’ll give your dog plenty of socialization and exercise.
Port Paws Dog Festival
Located in Suffolk County, Long Island, Port Jefferson is home to a summertime festival that’s all about dogs! You’ll enjoy browsing the vendors offering all kinds of pet care products, and you and your dog can choose from plenty of yummy food options, too. At this festival, dogs enjoy swimming, games, and much more outdoor fun. Proceeds support a worthy cause, too: the Port Jefferson Harbor Education and Arts Conservancy.
Dog Days at LongHouse Reserve
Bring your dog to the monthly Dog Days at LongHouse Reserve and enjoy the scenic gardens and sculptures while spending time with your pet. There will be treats for your dog and plenty of other furry friends to socialize with. You can also find adoption opportunities at Dog Days events.
Long Island Dog Festival
This event is held at Planting Fields Arboretum and is perfect for the whole family. It’s organized by the Long Island Kennel Club, and it takes place in a beautiful garden setting. Your dog can enjoy trick competitions, costume contests, and much more. You’ll get the chance to interact with professional dog experts and ask them your burning questions!
Paws in the Park
This fundraising event is run by the Southampton Animal Shelter and features fun activities for both dogs and kids. You can enter drawings, listen to music, participate in a dog walk, and even visit pets that are available for adoption. Visit Reed Creek Park with your pet to make some fun memories and take some unforgettable photos!
Barkin’ Brunch at the Refuge
This recurring event gives you and your dog the chance to enjoy brunch together! Don’t forget to make reservations for this popular event. Your dog can order from the doggie menu while you enjoy a Sunday cocktail and some delicious brunch food, from seafood to pizza, burgers to salads and everything in between.
Long Island Ducks’ Bark in the Park
The Long Island Ducks’ Bark in the Park events let you enjoy a ball park matinee along with your dog! Doggie bathrooms and water bowls are available, but event organizers stress that you’ll be responsible to make sure your pet behaves appropriately. Keep your dog on a leash and make sure to watch them closely to make sure everyone has a good time.
