How to brush your cat’s teeth.

If you're like most cat owners, you probably don't give much thought to your feline friend's dental health. After all, cats are pretty good at grooming themselves, right? Wrong! While cats are fastidious groomers, they're not so good at keeping their teeth clean.

Just like humans, cats need to have their teeth brushed regularly to prevent cavities, gum disease, and other oral health problems. The good news is that brushing your cat's teeth is actually pretty easy, and it only takes a few minutes a day. Here's everything you need to know about brushing your cat's teeth:

1. Choose the right toothbrush. There are special toothbrushes designed specifically for cats, but you can also use a soft-bristled human toothbrush. Avoid using a hard-bristled brush, which can damage your cat's delicate gums.

2. Choose the right toothpaste. Never use human toothpaste on your cat! Human toothpaste is full of chemicals and fluoride that can be toxic to cats. Instead, choose a toothpaste made specifically for cats. These toothpastes are usually flavored with chicken or tuna, which makes them more palatable for cats.

3. Put a small amount of toothpaste on the toothbrush. Start with just a pea-sized amount of toothpaste, and add more if necessary.

4. Gently brush your cat's teeth. Use circular, back-and-forth, and side-to-side motions to reach all of your cat's teeth. Be careful not to brush too hard, as this can damage your cat's gums.

5. Reward your cat. After a successful teeth-brushing session, reward your cat with a treat. This will help your cat associate teeth-brushing with something positive.
