Glossary Term: Kitten

Kittens are some of the cutest and most adorable creatures on the planet. They are soft and fluffy, with big eyes, tiny noses and short, whiskers. They come in a variety of colors and patterns, from classic black and white kitties to exotic calicos and tabbies. Kittens are full of energy and curiosity, and make great playmates for children and adults alike.

Kittens are born without their full set of teeth, so they rely on their mother’s milk for nutrition. They will start to eat solid food at around 4 weeks old, and will be weaned at 8-10 weeks. Kittens are very playful, and will often chase, pounce and wrestle with their littermates and toys. They can be taught simple tricks like fetching and come when called.

Kittens should be taken to the vet for a checkup and vaccinations shortly after they are adopted. It is important to spay or neuter kittens as soon as possible to prevent unwanted litters. Kittens need appropriate toys, scratching posts and a litter box to keep them entertained and safe.

Kittens need lots of love and attention to help them adjust to their new homes. They are sensitive creatures and can easily become scared or anxious in a new environment. It is important to give them plenty of time to explore and get used to their new home. With patience and love, kittens can become wonderful family pets.
